Jacobs Well
A drive through the sugar cane at the northern end of the Gold Coat will bring you to Jacobs Well and Cabbage Tree Point. These small villages sit on the main coastal channel between the Gold Coast and Brisbane and are considered the southern gateway to Moreton Bay. Both areas have the appeal of small fishing villages with easy access to the Broadwater. The area is an ideal launch site to access the islands and channels of the Jumpinpin area, well-known for its fishing and ideal for boating. The areas water views have made it popular among developers including those responsible for Calypso Bay, a master-planned community in Jacob’s Well that when complete will be home to a 300-berth marina, golf course, supermarket and other shops.
Residential
Dwellings in this area tend to consist of houses, some an older style than others. Many houses have waterfront views and housing developments seem to be on the rise. A couple of newer, small subdivisions have added more houses to the mix.
Shopping
A neighbourhood shopping precinct exists to service locals and includes a supermarket, chemist, medical facilities, tavern and restaurant. When complete, Calypso Bay commercial precinct will house retail shops, supermarket, restaurant, café, offices and waterfront Irish tavern.

Transport
Ormeau train station is about a 10-minute drive from Jacob’s Well. Buses run to Beenleigh and the Gold Coast as well as nearby colleges and high schools. Check timetables for more information.

Recreation
Jacobs Well and Cabbage Tree Point are fishing and boating havens. Water sports are popular in this area including kayaking. This area is also close to Dreamworld, one of the major Gold Coast theme parks which is about a 10-minute drive.
